Researcher Support
Purpose of the Programme
The programme aims to support doctoral students employed as research assistants at state higher education institutions in Türkiye, without any restriction regarding their field of study, in conducting research related to their doctoral dissertations.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
Be a citizen of the Republic of Türkiye and currently be employed as a research assistant at a state higher education institution.
Have reached the dissertation stage of a doctoral programme in one of the priority fields designated by the Council of Higher Education (CoHE).
Have obtained a score of at least 75, within the last three years, in YÖKDİL, YDS, e-YDS or an international foreign language examination recognised as equivalent by the Measuring, Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). The examination must have been taken in the language in which the research will be conducted.
For male applicants, have no outstanding military service obligations, meaning that they must have completed their military service or have had, or be eligible to have, their military service deferred.
Have commenced their doctoral studies within the three years preceding the application date.
Have received an invitation letter to undertake academic research for a period of one to three months from a university ranked among the world’s top 700 universities in any of the rankings published by University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP), Times Higher Education (THE) or Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) within the last three years.
Programme Beneficiaries to Date
A total of 21 researchers have benefited from the programme to date.
Purpose of the Programme
The programme aims to support research assistants and assistant professors who have completed their doctoral studies in undertaking postdoctoral research, without any restriction regarding their field of study.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
Be a citizen of the Republic of Türkiye and currently be employed as a research assistant or assistant professor at a state higher education institution, having completed their doctoral studies.
Have obtained their doctoral degree within the three years preceding the application date.
Have obtained a score of at least 80, within the last three years, in YÖKDİL, YDS, e-YDS or an international foreign language examination recognised as equivalent by the Measuring, Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). The examination must have been taken in the language in which the research will be conducted.
For male applicants, have no outstanding military service obligations, meaning that they must have completed their military service or have had, or be eligible to have, their military service deferred.

A total of 62 researchers have benefited from the programme to date.
Purpose of the Programme
The programme aims to support faculty members in conducting research abroad in priority areas identified in the Development Plan for the relevant year. Participants undertake their research within the scope of an academic sabbatical abroad while on paid academic leave pursuant to Additional Article 33 of Higher Education Law No. 2547.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
Be a citizen of the Republic of Türkiye and currently hold a faculty position at a state higher education institution.
Provide proof of having obtained a score of at least 80, within the last three years, in YÖKDİL, YDS, e-YDS or an international foreign language examination recognised as equivalent by the Measuring, Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM). The examination must have been taken in the language in which the research will be conducted.
Have received an invitation letter to undertake academic research for a period of up to nine months, as a visiting researcher or in an equivalent capacity, in one of the priority areas identified in the relevant Development Plan, from a university ranked among the world’s top 700 universities in any of the rankings published by University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP), Times Higher Education (THE) or Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).

A total of 57 researchers have benefited from the programme to date.
Purpose of the Programme
The programme aims to support international doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers who will conduct research at higher education institutions in Türkiye in the fields of Ottoman History, General Turkish History, Turkology, Turkish Language and Literature, and Turkish Culture.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
Be a foreign national. Turkish citizens who also hold citizenship of another country are not eligible for the programme.
Be at the dissertation stage of a doctoral programme or have completed their doctoral studies within the last two years in Ottoman History, General Turkish History, Turkology, Turkish Language and Literature, or Turkish Culture at a university ranked among the world’s top 700 universities in any of the rankings published by University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP), Times Higher Education (THE) or Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) within the last three years.
Have been accepted to conduct research for one or two semesters at one of the universities designated by the Council of Higher Education: Ankara University, Boğaziçi University, Ege University, Hacettepe University, Istanbul University, Marmara University or Middle East Technical University.
Application Process
International doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers wishing to come to Türkiye to conduct research must submit their applications to the higher education institution at which they wish to undertake their research.
Announcements concerning the programme are published on the websites of CoHE and the participating universities in accordance with the designated timetable.
The participating universities in Türkiye and their respective quotas are determined by CoHE.
The designated universities issue calls for applications. Following the evaluation process, they notify CoHE of the international doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers who have qualified for support.
